Celebrating my 23rd trip round the sun

Well this past weekend I was able to go out with my lovely girlfriend and go camping at Trap Pond State Park in Delaware.  It was great to get out into the woods and away from the hustle and bustle of the city, pitch a tent, and have a nice campfire.  Along the way I caught a fish (see below)

As did this awesome heron I was stalking.  Although its stabbing technique was much more successful then my fishing with a cold hot dog technique.

I also spotted these lovable lizards and quite a few toads :)

Bubbles in the Park

Got really lucky watching a small child attempt to fly a kite.  After quite a few mishaps, involving his parents and myself chasing down the kite, he got the hang of it.  Some other parents were blowing bubbles and I was able to frame the bubbles with the kite in the background (and in focus FTW).

I tried a few other edits also

Afternoon at Baltimore Zoo: Chimp Portrait

Had a great day today at the zoo with my girlfriend.  Took a lot of captive animal shots, but only one that I was really proud of.  The low-light of the chimpanzee forest exhibit made shots tough but with this beam of light I was able to get one good one.  They were all playing and swinging around, having a grand ol' time.

Possibly more to come later!

Roses at 50mm

I took a stab at using natural light and my new 50mm to get some low-light shots of the roses I bought my beautiful girlfriend for Valentine's Day.  I'm not super pleased with the sharpness of a few, but since I have to manual focus that is partially me as well.  Maybe I should have upped the ISO a bit.
Them be roses ^^

Overall fun though!  I'm still getting the hang of the manual focus but it does make you think more about your compositions!
